Q.   What is the difference between latigo, harness, and bridle leather?

A.   Latigo leather is a soft supple leather that is first tanned using soluble chromium salts and then tanned again using vegetable materials derived from tree bark and various other plants. Latigo products are a good choice for when strength and flexibility matter most. Harness leather is stuffed with a heavy mixture of animal fats for exceptional weight, thickness and durability. Harness leather has minimal stretch and is stiff in comparison to latigo leather making it an ideal choice for agitation collars. Bridle leather is slowly vegetable tanned to be strong, waxy and weather-resistant. Bridle leather has a beautiful glossy finish that makes it an exceptional choice for show collars and leashes.

Q.   What is Beta BioThane?

A.  Beta BioThane is what every dog trainer wants in a piece of working dog equipment. Beta BioThane has the look and feel of real leather, incredible no-slip grip, and is virtually maintenance free. Beta BioThane is a matte PVC coating with a leather emboss over a polyester webbing. Other advantages of Beta BioThane over leather is that it is totally weatherproof, abrasion and cut resistant, tear and crack resistant, mold and mildew resistant, lightweight, easily cleaned and decontaminated, and remains flexible in low temperatures. Wow.. how’s that for Serious equipment?

Q.  How do you measure your leashes and collars?

A.  All of our dog leashes and tabs (both leather and BioThane) are measured from the end of the snap to the end of the handle. Our dog collars are measured from buckle to the largest adjustment. When measuring your dog for a Serious collar, there is no need to add any inches for a perfect fit.

Q.   I need a different size leash than the ones you carry. Can you help me?

A.  Absolutely! We understand that not everybody's dog training equipment needs fall into our standard size dog training supplies. Serious Dog Supply manufactures custom dog leashes to fit your specific requirements. Please contact us for more information on custom orders.

Q.   I would really like to get a certain style of latigo leash done in harness leather instead. Is this possible?

A.  Yes! All of our leather and BioThane dog training products are made when your order is received to ensure that you get the exact item you want. If you don’t see the exact dog leash that you’re looking for in the leather you want, just let us know.

Q.   I just purchased a leather dog leash from your company, but I don’t know how to care for it. Help!

Q.  Do you donate items for, or sponsor dog events?

A.  We would love to donate and/or sponsor each and every event that we receive requests about. Unfortunately, we must limit our donations to a select number of events each year. We ask that you send requests for donations no later than 2 months in advance of the scheduled event date. Thank you for your understanding.

Q.   Do you offer discounts on bulk orders?

A.  Individuals wishing to place a bulk order are eligible for discount prices. The amount of the discount is dependent upon the particular items being purchased. Please contact us for more information concerning your individual needs.

Q.   Do you sell wholesale to resellers?

A.  All of the items manufactured by Serious Dog Supply are available at wholesale prices to qualified resellers. There are some restrictions, so please contact us for additional information and to open a wholesale account.

Q.   Do you give discounts to police departments or dog clubs?

A.  We do offer discounts on dog training equipment purchased directly through dog clubs or police departments. We cannot, however, give discounts to individuals that claim to be purchasing for a department or club unless they qualify for bulk order pricing.
