The Bottcher tracking harness is a very
simple, yet highly effective design. The
harness is designed to help train the dog to
keep his nose on the ground.
The loop of the bottcher harness goes
around the dog's belly and the other piece of
the harness runs along the dog's chest and
attaches to the collar from the underside.
The tracking line is then clipped to the
large O-ring under the dog's belly and is run
between the dog's back legs. When tension is
placed on the tracking line, the dog's head
is simultaneously pulled down toward the
ground. Bottcher harnesses are approved for
use in schutzhund trials.
